The blower motor relay controls the current used to power the blower motor, and is subject to the constant on and off switching. Over time, it can eventually wear out. When the blower motor relay does begin to fail, the vehicle will usually display a few symptoms that alert the driver of a potential problem that should be serviced.
One of the first symptoms of a problem with the blower motor relay is a blower motor that does not function at all. As the relay is the switch that supplies current to the blower motor, if it fails internally, then power will be cut off from the blower motor circuit, causing the motor to no longer function or blow any air from the vents.
One of the first symptoms of a bad or failing AC blower motor relay is a blown AC blower motor relay circuit fuse. If the blower motor relay develops any sort of problem that hinders its ability to properly limit and distribute power, it may cause the blower motor fuse to blow.
Any sort of electrical spikes or excessive current from a bad relay will blow the fuse and cut power in order to protect the system. Another more serious symptom of a problem with the blower motor relay is a burned or melted relay. Relays are exposed to high current loads and can sometimes get hot when they develop problems.
In serious cases, the relays may heat up to the point where the interior components and plastic housing of the relay will begin to melt and burn - sometimes even causing damage to the fuse box or panel as well. Since the blower motor relay is essentially the switch that directly controls power to the blower motor, the entire AC system will be left unable to distribute its cooled or heated air if the relay fails.
They will be able to determine if the car will need a blower motor relay replacementor a different repairto bring full functionality back to your AC system.

Here are the blower motor fix steps:. Do you set the temperature and the system keeps that temperature or do you have to adjust the temperature up manually and then turn it down once the cabin heats up? Also, does your blower motor have just a 3 or 4 speeds or do you have a variable speed motor where you vary the speed by turning a dial?Fan Clutch Detroit Diesel - Problem Fixed
Why do you need to know that? Because most automatic systems use an electronic motor controller while manual systems usually use a blower motor resistors to obtain 3 or 4 different speeds. Heating systems with just 3 or 4 speeds use a motor resistor along with the speed switch to regulate the motor speed.
The resistors are arranged in series to reduce the voltage in steps, depending on where in the series you apply power. Blower resistors can burn out. When that happens, you lose that speed. So you may have high speed, but no lower speeds. A variable speed motor is controlled by a digital speed controller. In most cases, the controller receives a digital input from the speed switch or HVAC control head.
To obtain the requested speed, the motor controller rapidly pulses the ground circuit on and off. So a half speed driver request will result in the blower motor controller pulsing the ground connection off twice as often as when the fan is running at full speed. Carmakers use these three common wiring methods to supply power and ground to the blower motor in a manual system using a blower motor resistor.
In one design, the car maker supplies battery power to the speed switch, which switches the power to the appropriate connection on the blower motor resistor. In those applications, the motor resistor reduces power for the slower speeds and the blower motor has a permanent ground connection to complete the circuit.
See the wiring diagram for that setup below. Or, carmakers can supply power to the motor and control blower speeds on the ground side of the circuit. Or, carmakers can opt for a motor resistor AND a high speed relay.
See the wiring diagram below for that setup. Instead they use a blower motor speed control or a power transistor. Variable speed motors are most often used in vehicles with automatic climate control.
In those applications, the HVAC control head is a digitally controlled unit and uses various sensor inputs to determine when to supply heat. The module uses that information to pulse either power or ground to the motor.
See the wiring diagram below for a typical variable speed motor setup. On all systems, a failed blower motor is least likely. In most cases, they start to fail by making a high pitched squeal or screeching noise that indicates the bearing is failing.
The squealing noise happens most often in the winter during cold startups and may disappear as the motor heats up. Start by checking the blower fuse and HVAC controller fuse. Disconnect the electrical connector at the blower motor and jumper power and ground to the motor, bypassing all the speeds controls. Run a fused jumper from the battery to the power side of the motor and connect a temporary grounding jumper to the other motor terminal.
At that point the suspects are the blower motor speed control module most likely or the HVAC control head less likely, but not unheard of.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the blower motor. If you see battery voltage in the connector, connect 1 meter lead to the power terminal in the connector and the other lead to the ground connector. If you get a good ground reading, the problem is most likely a bad motor.Registration and Posting Agreement.

I'm working on my sons chevy 4x4 truck that he just purchased.
The blower motor works fine until you switch it to heat then it blows the fuse. Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting this issue. I know that year of truck is different than what I am used to models. I think I remember the switching mechanism might have some electronics to it. On mine a cable moves the door, so something has to causing a short for you to blow the fuse when you switch to heater. I am sure others will chime in today.
Chris Lucas chevytrucks captkaoscustoms squarebody. Still have not located problem with blowing fuse. I did replace the resistor and the selector switch and it still blows the fuse. I have hooked up the blower motor directly to the battery with a 20amp in line fuse, it ran 5 minutes and never blew the in line fuse.
Anyone have any ideas where else to look or what else to check. Any input would be greatly appreciated. So clarify, is it the mode change that causes the circuit to open or the temperature selection from hot to cold?
How to Fix the Fan Blower in My Ford E-250
Which switch did you replace? The fan speed switch or the mode switch? Mine blows the fuse to the TBI computer when I turn the blower on high. No clue how it's back feeding power or whatever But I'm gonna have to run the Computer power streigt to the battery I guess.
Roundhouse - thread hijack unrelated problem you should start a thread on when you are ready to tackle problem. Joe, is the truck AC equipped? What modes cause the fuse to blow? When it does work all speeds on the blower motor work. Is your AC hooked up and functioning prior to this issue?
Unplug the connector at the AC compressor and see if it still happens. Compressor is disconnected. My son acquired this truck a couple months ago. Disconnected throttle solenoid and fuse is now holding.A truck cooling system fan is a critical part of your cooling system.
When your truck is moving, air is being forced through the radiator, enabling engine heat to be dissipated. This process works great while going 55 miles an hour, but not as well in traffic or while stopped.
There are three basic styles of fans used on vehicles. There is a belt driven pulley fan, a clutch fan, and an electrical fan. Each fan offers distinct advantages and disadvantages. No matter what type of truck fan you have, you will always need to check for any fan wobble, fan vibration, or cracked fan blades.
Your fan shroud and fan works together and will help keep your vehicle running cooler. Many individuals with custom applications or special use vehicles think that using a thicker radiator or heavy-duty fan will replace the need for a fan shroud. In most cases It will not. Removing a fan shroud will only make your vehicle run hotter.
The key to a properly working fan is the fan shroud. All fans need a fan shroud to keep the air flowing properly through the radiator and not all around the engine compartment. Do not remove your fan shroud. If you are building a special vehicle or need to operate your vehicle in special conditions, you will have many choices to consider.
Are you trying to cool a high-performance vehicle? Should you add a fan that pushes air through a radiator? If you are you looking at this web page and trying to adapt a custom application to a functioning fan and need help cooling a high-performance radiator, then you should seek out a professional.
I can only tell you that adjusting your engines performance and adding horsepower will throw all basic calculations off. You will be in a trial and error situation, and you should talk to someone like a NARSA certified radiator shop. Your email address will not be published. Truck Cooling System Fan A truck cooling system fan is a critical part of your cooling system.
The basic belt driven fan operates with a pulley and fan belt. This fan is always on when your vehicle is running and thus affects fuel consumption and workload. This fan design is the most basic, and it works. Things to check on this system is the wearing of the belt, cracks or a very shiny gloss look to the underside of the belt indicating slipping.
Check for improper tension and if you hear a squealing sound when starting your vehicle you will need to check the tension and condition of the belt. There are two types of fan clutches, a non-thermal clutch fan that rotates based on shaft speed and a thermal clutch fan clutch that reacts to system temperatures. If the fan blower on your Ford E begins to fail, there are two likely problems.
Either the motor is malfunctioning and will need to be replaced, or more commonly the fuse has blown out. Accessing the fan blower's motor or replacing the fuse should only take about five minutes. Open the hood, and remove the cover from the fuse block.

When compiling the stats for Premier Betting you get to see how various teams perform and you can asses whether or not the draw is of any value. I've mostly tended to make two bets - a safe bet (max 2. What nuggets would you share with respect to betting strategy.
If you have been following my selections you will see that we are well over 10 points up. This means in effect I have 10 more bets before I start showing a loss. So avoid short priced favourites. But most importantly whatever bet you choose ensure that it contains value.
Please explain how the system works. Here sat watching all your draws going the right way without staking a penny. Am I going to stake each game separately or there is way of me putting all of it together and just needing one match to make a profit. Last year doing this I made over 30 points level stakes profit. If you go to our website at Premier Betting you will see our ratings compared to the bookmakers odds this will give you some indication if you are obtaining value in your selection.
A tip that you give on a weekly basis and which I like is backing three games to end draw and if one of them ends draw, the punter will end with profit. However, I find choosing these games quite a difficult task because if none of those three matches end in a draw there would be quite a big loss (x3). I would like to ask you: Which strategy do you use to try and predict that at least one game will end in a draw. This is highlighted in the Premier Football Betting Handbook. Then I look to see if the draw price offers any value and then I asses the form of the two teams involved.
How do I know what I should be betting. Should I take into account my overall profit and bet more as I earn more, or stick to picking up lots of small bets. Betting on football can be profitable but it should be fun and always kept in context. For example, is there money to be had in betting on corners if you do the research.
For example if you wish to back a short priced selection. How do you keep disciplined. Discipline is the key to my draw strategy there will be a week or two where there are no winners but it is then you have to believe in the strategy and stick with it. I like to bet on second leg cup matches as you get more information about what the teams need from the game. Also if you do have a bet and your team are leading you can close out your position for a profit.
Also, where did you hit upon the three draw formula. In this newsletter I am constantly building strategies in sports such as Tennis, Football, Cricket and the NFL. Again I like all my trading to be low risk with much to gain.
I spend hours going over spreadsheets and data. So yes I think they can play a part this season and go much closer than they did last season. Obviously next week's game at Chelsea is crucial. His Premier Betting website can be found here. Place a bet now with Goal.
